Köhler, Johann David. HISTORISCHER MÜNZ-BELUSTIGUNG. ERSTER THEIL–ZWEY UND ZWANZIGSTER THEIL. VOLLSTÄNDIGES REGISTER. ERSTER UND ZWEYTER BAND. Nürnberg, 1729–1750 & 1764–1765. Twenty-four volumes, complete, bound in twelve. Small 4to [19 by 16.5 cm], 19th-century brown half morocco; spines with four raised bands, ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt; all page edges marbled. Nearly 12,000 pages; titles printed in red and black; 2 finely engraved frontispiece portraits of the author; finely engraved frontispiece plates of coins and medals; occasional plates and finely engraved illustrations of coins and medals in the text; finely engraved dedication vignettes. Bindings rubbed, but mostly sound; Binding of the Registerbände is taped. Trimmed closely, with some content folded to avoid overtrimming. A very good set. A complete set of this very scarce and important early numismatic periodical, and an important resource for contemporary information on a wide variety of European coins and medals. Includes the scarce two-volume Register published in 1764 and 1765. From the library of Paul Henckel, whose collection was sold by Adolph Weyl in 1876 and 1877.
