William III (1694-1702), silver Crown, 1695, first laureate and draped bust right, legend and toothed border surrounding, GVLIELMVS. III. DEI. GRA., rev. crowned cruciform shields, six strings to Irish harp, Lion of Nassau at centre, early harp, date either side of top crown, .MAG. BR.FRA. ET.HIB. REX., edge inscribed in raised letters and dated, +..+.DECVS. ET. TVTAMEN. .ANNO. REGNI. OCTAVO., 29.97g (Bull 991; ESC 87; S.3470). Attractively toned, with some light flecking both sides, rim imperfection at bottom of obverse, only a hint of weakness extremely fine.
The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "William III by the Grace of God," and abbreviated on the reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland." and additionally on the edge "An ornament and a safeguard, in the eighth year of the reign."
