MS65 | George IV (1820-30), silver proof Crown, 1821, laureate head left, B.P. for Benedetto Pistrucci below, legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F:D:, rev. St. George and dragon right, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue, WWP on ground line below lance for William Wellesley Pole, edge inscribed in raised letters and dated, DECUS ET TUTAMEN. ANNO REGNI SECUNDO., 28.30g (Bull 2312; ESC 247; L&S 10; Davies 131; S.3805). Very attractively toned, practically as struck with just a hint of wear to the highest points of the reverse, a superb example though has been graded by NGC as MS65.

NGC Certification 6031695-016.

In our opinion the coin is a proof, despite the NGC MS grade. The Latin legend translate as on the obverse "George the Fourth, by the grace of God, King of the Britains, Defender of the Faith" and on the edge "An ornament and a safeguard, in the second year of the reign".
