SCVTVM : FIDEI : PROTEGET : EAM •, crowned square-topped shield dividing E-R, 1.43g [22.0grns], 12h, m.m. large woolpack (HCN 184; Montagu III, 61; Murdoch -; Ryan 349; Lockett 1998; Broughton 444; Comber I, -; Schneider I, 818 same dies; Brown & Comber J15; North 2011; Spink 2537), an unquestionable presentation striking on a perfectly round flan with medallic alignment, further accentuated with flares of rich colourful cabinet toning, the dies more neatly prepared than the last, a pleasingly good extremely fine, of the highest rarity, in NGC 'Horace Hird' holder, graded MS62 (Cert. #6135299-011).

This highly appealing 'presentation' striking is, like the last, the product of the talented Anthony, but its raison d'etre is undoubtedly the result of the agitations of Richard Martin. The care and exactitude taken over the neatness of the flan, and balance of the strike also mark it out as a hidden gem of the Hird cabinet, and a clear outlier compared to the similarly remarkable currency issue seen before.
