People's Bank of China, a group of artist renditions for a series of emergency 'Wartime Preparation' banknotes, 1970, consisting of the following:
1 jiao - two pairs, one obverse and three reverse designs.
Obverse design - mountain ranges with railroad/highway infrastructure, armoured units lined up on bridges in preparation for battle, several figures (likely reconnissance units) at lower left, serial number at lower right reads VII VI II 6189885.
Reverse designs - all with the emblem of the PRC at centre, bank title 'ZHONGGUO RENMIN YINHANG' at top and different scripts at left and right of the emblem, variations of border designs.

5 jiao - three pairs, four obverse and one reverse design. The obverse as follows:
The first with six figures on horseback, trees in a distance, serial number at lower centre reads I IV VI 0445667, '5 Jiao' in Chinese and 'Wu Jiao' at right.
The second with infantrymen at centre. The centre two with grenades and a grenade launcher, at a distance two other figures operate a machine gun.
The third with a fighter pilot at centre looking up to the sky, several fighter aircraft in the sky, warships and fighter aircraft at lower left and right, serial number at upper right corner reads I IV VI 0445667.
The fourth with six figures on horseback with rifles at centre, one points in a direction and the other holding a set of binoculars, serial number at lower right also reads I IV VI 0445667.
The fifth with a similar design as the fourth with variations in design at top and bottom, the serial number at top right also reads I IV VI 0445667.
The reverse note with the emblem of the PRC at centre, bank title 'ZHONGGUO RENMIN YINHANG' at top and in different scripts at left and right of the emblem, various motifs relating to military, industrial and economic power at two sides,

1 Yuan - one pair of obverse and reverse designs.
Obverse - four infantrymen at centre armed with rifles and a grenade launcher, a tank in a distance at upper right, serial number at right reads I VIII II 9322660.
Reverse - emblem of the PRC at centre, bank title 'ZHONGGUO RENMIN YINHANG' at top and in different scripts at left and right of the emblem, '1 Yuan' in Chinese at bottom.All are encapsulated in PMG holders without a grade, the designs all mounted on cardstock in pairs. These are prototypes of a series of emergency banknotes produced in the early 1970's in preparation for war with the Soviet Union. These banknotes were eventually printed but was never issued and were destroyed over 10 years ago. Since the files relating to this event are still classified, it will be years before we know the full facts. Unique and an important record of this period in modern Chinese history. (3 denominations on 6 cardstocks, a total of 12 designs)..
