Constantius II (337-361). AR Light Miliarensis, Constantinople mint. Obv. DN CONSTANTIVS PF AVG. Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev. VIRTVS EXERCITVS. Virtus, in military attire, standing slightly left, head right, holding reversed spear and leaning on shield set on ground; in exergue, "A" Θ. Cf. RIC VIII 100; C. 326 (Fr.50). AR. 3.83 g. 23.00 mm. R. Rare. Bold portrait. A brilliant example, lightly toned , with golden hues. Traces of smoothing in fields and apparently repaired at exergue, where the mint mark seems mistakenly re-engraved A Θ instead of C • Θ. Otherwise about EF/Good VF. Ex CNG 58, 2001, 1370.
