Constans II (641-668). "Ceremonial" Silver Coinage. AR Miliaresion, Constantinople mint, 659-668 AD. Obv. Draped facing busts of Constans, with plumed helmet and long beard and Constantine IV, beardlesss and wearing crown; cross between heads. Rev. Cross potent on globe, above three steps; to either side, palm frond. D.O. 47; MIB 141; Sear 987. AR. 5.09 g. 20.00 mm. RR. Very rare and very seldom offered. An outstanding untouched example, in excellent condition for issue. Lovely light cabinet tone, with golden hues. Good VF.

This issue is probably connected to the coronation of Constantine IV in 654. (P. Grierson, BC, p. 103).
