KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Stater (Gold, 19 mm, 8.62 g, 10 h), Pella, struck under Antipater, Polyperchon, or Kassander, circa 323/2-315. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠOY Charioteer driving galloping biga to right, holding goad in his right hand and reins in his left; below horses, thunderbolt. Le Rider 404 (D177/R299). A lovely example with a particularly fine head of Apollo. Minor bumps on the edge and with very light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
