LUCANIA. Thourioi. Circa 400-350 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 8.00 g, 7 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned, on the bowl, with Skylla holding trident in her right hand. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ Bull butting right; above, ΝΥΣΙ; in exergue, fish to right. Antike Kunst (1967), 455 (this coin). HN Italy 1790. SNG ANS 1055 (same dies). SNG Delepierre 394. A very rare variety. Beautifully toned and of lovely style. The reverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
