Forces of Galba in Spain. In the name of Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 3.25 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in Spain. Group A.II, 3 April-2nd half of June 68. CAESAR AVGVSTVS Laureate head of Augustus to right. Rev. DIVVS - IVLIVS Sidus Iulium: eight-rayed comet with tail upwards. BMC 49. CG 146.4 (this coin). Cohen 98 (Augustan prototype). Martin A 10. Nicolas A8. RIC 92. Very rare and nicely toned. The obverse scratched, otherwise, very fine.

This coin is distinguished by its typical 'Spanish' staring eye on the obverse, which connects it to Groups I and A.I (see above, lots 1001-1004 and 1042-1044, respectively).
