CARIA. Antioch ad Maeandrum. Circa 90/89-65/60 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 15.85 g, 1 h), Kalas, magistrate. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ANTIOXEΩN - KAΛAΣ Eagle, wings closed, standing left; to left, winged kerykeion; all within maeander pattern. Thonemann Group B, 12a (O13/R27). Extremely rare, the fourth and finest known example. A magnificent piece, beautifully toned and with a bold and impressive head of Zeus. Minor porosity, otherwise, extremely fine.
