Constantine I, 307/310-337. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.55 g, 7 h), Thessalonica, 332. CONSTANT-NVS MAX AVG Rosette-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantine I to right. Rev. VICTORIA CO-NSTANTINI AVG / TS Victory advancing left, holding trophy in her right hand and palm frond in her left. Depeyrot 15/2 corr. (reverse legend). RIC 189. A lustrous and very attractive example. Light scratch on the obverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.

This issue celebrates the victoriousness of the emperor and is likely connected to the campaign against the Goths in 332, in the course of which the Caesar Constantine II came to the aid of Sarmatian foederati and defeated the attackers north of the Danube.
