The CA monogram on this sling bullet is believed to be an abbreviated form of CAES and thus, referring to Julius Caesar. Sling bullets such as this are generally believed to have been carried by the archers of Julius Caesar's army during the Hispanian campaign of the Civil War and intended for use against the Pompeian army, particularly The Battle of Munda (45 BC). The exact location of the Munda battle site is unknown however a large number of sling bullets have been found near La Lantejuela in Seville.
