KINGS OF MACEDON. Antigonos III Doson, 229-221 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 16.97 g, 10 h), in the types of Antigonos Gonatas, Amphipolis, circa 229-221/0. Horned head of Pan to left, wearing goat's skin around his neck and with lagobolon behind; all within the center of a Macedonian shield adorned with stars and crescents. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ANTIΓONOΥ Athena Alkidemos striding to left, hurling thunderbolt with her upraised right hand and holding shield with her left; in field to left, Macedonian helmet with transverse crest; in field to right, TΙ. Panagopoulou Period IV, Group 6, 29 (O09/R27). SNG Alpha Bank 983 (same dies). Bold, attractive and well-struck. Minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
