Roman Empire. Augustus & Agrippa. Dupondius classe IV Æ circa 10-14 AD, Nîmes (Nemausus).
Obv. IMP DIVI F PP(Imperator Divi Filius Pater Patriae) - Leaning busts of Agrippa and Octavian. Agrippa, looking left, wears the naval crown (rostral crown). The bust of Octavian, looking right, wears a laurel crown.
Rev. COL NEM - Crocodile attached by a chain to a palm leaning to the left. The palm is surmounted on its left by a crown whose ribbon ends, replaced by snakes, float to the right. Two palmettes are placed under the crocodile. The chain is made of circles or arcs of circle entwined often pointed. It passes behind the crocodile and connects it to the palm via an attachment ring placed under its collar.
