Priest of the Sun-God, Elagabalus was notorious for religious fanaticism, cruelty, and bloody excesses of all kinds. In 222, he and his mother were murdered in the praetorian camp and their bodies dragged through the streets of Rome and thrown into the Tiber. (Sear, RCV)
