His radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right; IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG / Moneta standing left, holding scales and cornucopia; MONETA AVG. RIC V 75. RSC 199a. Extremely Fine; attractively toned with underlying iridescence; well centered on large flan, and with a bold portrait. Handsome example.

A great soldier first, Postumus was a usurper who ruled Gaul, Spain, and Britain wisely for nearly a decade. He successfully repelled the German tribes on the Rhine frontier, and defended his territories from Gallienus repeatedly, but eventually was assassinated. (Sear, RCV)
