MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV quarter-stater (11mm, 2.15 gm, 9h). NGC AU 5/5 - 3/5. Late lifetime-early posthumous issue of Amphipolis, ca. 325-319 BC. Head of Athena right, hair in three tight corkscrew curls, two more curls over left shoulder, wearing necklace and triple-crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, short divergent crest ends, the bowl decorated with coiled serpent right / AΛEΞAN/ΔPOY, horizontal bow and club right, horizontal thunderbolt above.
