*Italy, Verona (early 17th century), attributed to Paolo and Francesco de Levis, The Holy Trinity, silvered bronze pax, the image within an oval border and set within a frame with elaborate caryatids at the sides and surmounted by a facing cherub's head below a scallop shell, the back with scrolled stand, 147 x 104mm (cf. Charles Avery, "Joseph de Levis & Company, Renaissance Bronze-founders in Verona", p. 142, 62), very fine contemporary cast and toned. This image of The Trinity is found cast into the side of a bell in the Museo di Castelvecchio in Verona, which bears the date 1617 (see Avery, op. cit. no. 61).
