*France, Louis XV, Building of the Hôtel des Monnaies, Paris, 1770, large silver medal by Charles Norbert Roettiers, laureate bust of the king right, rev., a view of the new building on the river Seine, 64mm (BDM V, 153, illustrated), some light marks, toned and extremely fine, very rare. Although the medal is dated 1770, the first stone of the building that was to house the Paris mint was laid in 1771 and the façade completed in 1773.
