Taiwan. Republic copper "Chiang Kai-shek" Medal Year 26 (1937) MS61 Brown PCGS, L&M-968 var. (copper), WS-0127. 33mm. Only the second specimen of this seemingly quite rare medal in copper we have handled, and one of just two yet certified by PCGS. Bathed in an even cocoa patina over the surfaces, the devices have been soundly rendered throughout, producing a thoroughly gratifying example. For comparison, the last specimen we offered--graded MS63 Brown--realized $12,000 as part of our June 2019 Hong Kong sale #3074. We would note that while Wang Chun Li lists this medal only in copper, the example he plates appears to be in silver.
