Szechuan-Shensi Soviet. Soviet Controlled Provinces Dollar 1934 XF45 PCGS, Szechuan-Silver Provincial mint, KM-Y513.2, L&M-891, Kann-808i, cf. Chang-CH262, cf. WS-1343. Small, solid stars variety. Perhaps the most iconic Dollar of the Soviet era, highly sought-after in all states, though most often located poorly preserved. Evenly patinated in a steely tone, this example shows only the mildest unevenness to the strike for the series, the vast majority of the characters still well-formed, while all of the hatching with the sickle and hammer is crisp often lacking from even numerically finer specimens. For comparison, we offered a similarly graded example in our June Hong Kong sale, which brought $28,800.
