Great Britain
George II "Lima" Crown 1746 MS62 NGC, KM585.3, S-3689, ESC-1668. A positively resplendent "jewel" of this highly contested type minted from captured Spanish silver. Embellished with blush coloration that wells over the obverse and reverse alike, viewing the coin in hand, it is hard not to recognize that the strike is essentially of choice character, leaving every element of the design fully realized. Haymarking, a notorious characteristic of George's late Crowns, confines itself primarily to the areas in front of the king's gaze and between the shields of Ireland and Hannover, adding a unique texturing element that does nothing to hamper the coin's overall eye appeal.
