George III bronzed Proof Restrike 2 Pence 1797-SOHO PR64 PCGS, Soho mint, Peck-1078 (R). A very scarce and high-quality rendition of this highly collectible 18th-century British type, currently ranking as both the sole example at PCGS and the first we have handled. As indicated by Peck, the coin has benefitted significantly from a strengthening of the original dies, producing crisp definition throughout that gives the feel of a truly quality Proof. For the sake of completeness, we note what appears to be a spot of plastic in the first digit of the date.
