George III Proof Bank Dollar of 5 Shillings 1804 PR62 Cameo NGC, Soho mint, KM-Tn1, S-3768, ESC-1926 (prev. ESC-145). A scarcer Proof representative of this Bank Dollar issue, overstruck on Spanish 8 Reales by the Bank of England. Though officially regarding as a token issue, these so-called Dollars circulated alongside regular coinage due to the shortage of silver coins during the period. Proofs remain highly desirable, fully showcasing a design that is often found with hints of weakness due to incomplete overstriking. This razor-sharp example possesses full, mirrorlike argent surfaces with designs richly frosted to produce a cameo contrast visible from all viewing angles. At the cusp of choice and highly collectible.
