Philippe VI (1328-1350) gold Royal d'Or ND (from 1328) MS61 NGC, Paris mint, Fr-271, Ciani-269, Dup-247. 4.18gm. Emission from 2 May 1328. Ph'S RЄX • | FRΛ' COR • (annulet stops), Philippe, crowned, standing facing beneath Gothic dais, scepter in right hand / +XP'C • VInCIT • XP'C • RЄGNAT • XP'C • IMPЄRAT (annulet stops), cross fleurdelisée within quadrilobe, crowns in spandrels. Strikingly well-produced for this type that rarely becomes available in fully Mint State preservation, with a pronounced outer rim still visible around the circumference of the coin, indicating a lack of clipping. Clear traces of the engraver's guide can still be discerned around the reverse, while minimal surface chatter is visible even under high magnification.
