S-3768; KM-Tn1; ESC-1946. A lovely Gem with even and consistent rich patina over hard reflective fields that are somewhat subdued complementing the frosted devices. The strike offers exquisite detail on a finely polished planchet, with virtually flawless fields and nearly imperceptible evidence of the original Spanish Colonial bust 8 Reales. This special issue, struck to help alleviate a small change shortage that lasted until the coinage reform of 1816.
