CHILE. El Banco de A. Edwards Y Cc.. 5 Pesos, 1877. P-S239r. Remainder. About Uncirculated.
Printed by BWC. A beautiful example of this 5 Pesos remainder from this elusive issuer. Heavy geometric lathe work comprises the border design in dark black ink, while the central design consists of blue & orange colors. At left is a portrait of a woman, while at right an allegorical cherub is seen on a sailing ship holding an astrolabe. The reverse of the note shows a tri-color design of green, orange and brown ink. At left and right ends are facing head busts, with "CINCO" at center and "5" counters above & below. Scarce, and surely missing from the most advanced collections of Chilean paper money. Slightly deckled edges are noticed.
Estimate: $2000 - $3000
