ECUADOR. 8 Reales, 1846-QUITO GJ. Quito Mint. NGC AU-58.
KM-32. Seppa/Anderson-EC70; Carr-63; El-1. Mintage: 1,386. This example of the RARE and endlessly-demanded one-year type gives full evidence of the beauty of the design with a full strike and almost no evidence of handling. The crown-sized planchet yields no evidence of distracting contact marks with only limited breaks in the surface noted. The dark cabinet tone adds even more appeal, as the design on the whole is reminiscent of the capped bust coinage contemporaneously being coined in the United States.
Estimate: $3000 - $5000
