Highly original and seemingly conservatively graded, this classic single-year issue exhibits attractive gray surfaces that darken slightly around the designs and within their detail. No noteworthy forms of handling appear on either side, which is a refreshing attribute considering this coin obviously experienced years if not decades in circulation.

This unusual one-year design features a bust of Liberty, designed by the famous French engraver, Albert Désiré Barre. He also designed the bust of Bolivar that was to follow.
