MARC ANTONY & OCTAVIAN. AR Denarius (3.85 gms), Ephesus Mint; M. Barbatius Pollio, quaestor pro praetore, 41 B.C. NGC EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 5/5.
Cr-517/2; CRI-243; Syd-1181. Obverse: Bare head of Mark Antony right; Reverse: Bare head of Octavian right, with slight beard. A desirable issue from the time at which these two were allies, this coin stands as a beautifully struck example free from any problems, all while offering a rich, deep cabinet tone. Just a decade after this piece was struck, the two would be mortal enemies, with Octavian defeating Antony's forces at Actium, the latter committing suicide following the defeat.
Estimate: $1000 - $1500
