ITALY. Bruttium. Kroton. AR Stater (Nomos) (7.95 gms), ca. 425-380 B.C. NGC Ch AU, Strike: 3/5 Surface: 5/5. Fine Style.
HGC-1, 1458; HN Italy-2145; SNG ANS-342 (same dies). Obverse: Eagle, with head right, standing left on ram's head; Reverse: Tripod; branch with two leaves to left; all within shallow incuse circle. Though exhibiting a bit of striking weakness on the wings of the eagle, this well centered and rather bold specimen presents great overall eye appeal and features a particularly attractive cabinet tone and hints of brilliance.
