ITALY. Bruttium. Kroton. AR Stater (Nomos) (7.02 gms), ca. 400-325 B.C. NGC AU, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 1/5. Fine Style.
HGC-1, 1462; HN Italy-2157; SNG ANS-384-8. Obverse: Laureate head of Apollo right; Reverse: The Herakliskos Drakonopnigon: the Infant Herakles, nude, crouching facing on rock, head left, strangling a serpent in each hand. An ever-popular type, this specimen does exhibit a good deal of roughness and crystallization, but nevertheless possesses very little in the way of actual handling.
