Hawkins, Edward. DESCRIPTION OF THE ANGLO-GALLIC COINS IN THE BRITISH MUSEUM. London, 1826. Tall 4to [30.5 by 24.5 cm], contemporary three-quarter vellum, with marbled sides; spine with five raised double-bands; red morocco lettering piece, gilt; marbled endpapers; top page edges gilt; fine oval impression of the Fortescue arms with the motto FORTE SCUTUM SALUS DUCUM stamped in gilt in the center of the upper cover. (2), vi, (2), 91, (1) pages; coin engravings on the title; 3 plates of coins engraved by H. Moses after drawings by H. Corbould. Usual foxing to plates and extremities; very good or better. An unusually handsome copy of the first and only edition of this scarce work, initiated by Combe and brought to completion by Hawkins. Engel & Serrure 6676. Leitzmann 55. Sigler 1141.
