CATALOGUE OF A COLLECTION OF ANCIENT GREEK AND ROMAN COINS, FOREIGN GOLD AND SILVER COINS, UNITED STATES COINS, CANADIAN COINS AND MEDALS. TO BE SOLD AT PUBLIC AUCTION ... DURING THE AMERICAN NUMISMATIC SOCIETY (sic) CONVENTION... Cleveland, August 26, 1924. 8vo, original gilt-printed white paper covers. iv, 19, (1) pages; 321 lots. Fine. [with] Chapman, Henry. CATALOGUE OF A MISCELLANEOUS COLLECTION OF COINS, MEDALS AND PAPER MONEY... THIS SALE IS MADE AT THE REQUEST OF THE COMMITTEE ON ENTERTAINMENT OF THE A.N.A. CONVENTION. Detroit, August 26, 1925. 8vo, original gilt-printed white paper covers. 28 pages; 454 lots. Dusty; near fine. Adams 7, 39, 45 and 46. All four of the ANA Convention sales conducted by Henry Chapman. The 1908 ANA sale is only the second in that series: it is rated B by Adams, who cites a "Kittanning medal. 1670 5, 15 sols. Betts 388, 390. War medals of the world. 1881, 1882 complete proof sets." The 1919 ANA Sale is not identified as such, but includes a number of early United States rarities (ANA sales of the day were often meager affairs): Adams B–: "MS 1792 5¢ (ex Rittenhouse). 1791 Washington 1¢ (Ex Eckfeldt). 1907 $10 high rim. Mormon $21/2. 1797 1/2¢ lettered edge." The 1924 catalogue is scarcer than either the 1919 or 1925 ANA sales. Adams cites the "Baldwin $50. Fugio varieties. XF 1811 1¢. Order of Cincinnati signed by Washington. Breton 916." Adams notes the presence in the 1925 sale of a "Florida 24 real. N.J. 1¢ varieties. Octagonal Lesher in proof. Ancient gold. Fractional Currency strips." Ex Roger Persichilli Library.
