Mughal Empire, Akbar (1556-1605), gold Mohur, probably a contemporary copy, 10.89g, Agra, AH971, kalima in cinquefoil frame, rev. legend divided into three segments (KM 105.1), tiny test punch, struck on an impressive large flan, good very fine.
As has been noted before, by Steve Album, the Mohurs of Akbar dated 971 were the subject of many contemporaneous imitations. The way the date is written and the slight 'edge' to the rim are the only things that mark this coin as such.
Estimate: £600 - £800
