CILICIA. Kelenderis. Circa 410-375 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 10.69 g, 12 h). Nude youth, holding whip in his right hand and the reins in his left, seated sideways on horse rearing to right, preparing to slide off and run alongside as part of a race. Rev. ΚΕΛΕΝ Goat kneeling right, head turned back to left; below, olive sprig with two leaves and fruit. BMC 24 (same dies). Casabonne type 4. SNG Copenhagen 84. SNG Paris -. A very rare variety. Very nicely centered, of excellent style and lightly toned - one of the most attractive Kelenderis staters in existence. Very minor marks, otherwise, good extremely fine.
