CYPRUS. Salamis. Evagoras I, circa 411-374 BC. Stater (Silver, 23.5 mm, 11.20 g, 5 h). 𐠦𐠍𐠲𐠄𐠁 ('e-u-wa-ko-ro', in Cypriote syllabic script) Youthful Herakles seated right on rock draped with his lion's skin, leaning on club held in his right hand and holding a rhyton with an ornamented top with his left. Rev. 𐠩/ 𐠞 - 𐠃𐠐𐠪E ('pa-si-le-wo-se e' in combined Cypriote syllabic and Greek script) Male goat recumbent to right on dotted base line. Masson & Amandry 1a-c. A very handsome example of this rare issue, well-struck and centered, with an attractive light tone, and a particularly bold reverse. Obverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
