Netherlands Oversea - Nederlands Nieuw Guinea - 5 Gulden 1943 Wilhelmina NICA serie with oval purple stamp 'Nieuw Guinea' (cf. P. 113 / cf. PLNI28.4a) - After WWII and the independence of Indonesia the Dutch government tried to prevent that the Netherlands Indies NICA series would go into circulation in Netherlands New Guinea. These notes could only be exchanged for the new Netherlands New Guinea gulden notes of 1950 with special stamps on them placed by Dutch instutions on the island. These stamped notes are considered to be the first Netherlands New Guinea circulating predating the 1950 series - Total 3 pcs. a.VF
