SPAIN: Fantasy Issues, AR 4 pesetas, 1894, fantasy issue in the name of the former monarch Isabel II (1830-1904), a rare type with a low mintage of just 100 pieces, struck by John Pinches for Reginald Huth, NGC graded Proof 62 CAMEO, RR. John Pinches (1825-1905), was a British sculptor and medallist and was a founder of the firm of medalists known as John Pinches, Ltd. He studied under William Joseph Taylor from 1846 to 1851, then worked occasionally for Leonard C. Wyon, and also for the Birmingham Mint. After leaving he was occasionally employed by Leonard C. Wyon, William Wyon's successor. He died in London 22 April 1905 and the firm of John Pinches, Ltd. was taken over by his son John Harvey Pinches.
