SWEDEN: Carl XV, 1859-1872, AE medal, 1863, Moyaux-377, 48mm bronzed medal by Ahlborn for Nils Ericson, head of the Swedish railway company; his bust right // Ferrovia sitting on bale, holding a map, at her feet tools of railway construction, in the background a viaduct over which is a steam locomotive with carriages right, a superb quality example! PCGS graded Specimen 65. Lea Fredrika Ahlborn, née Lundgren (1826–1897) was a famous Swedish artist and medallist. She was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts and the first woman to be appointed royal printmaker. Lea Ahlborn's father was Ludvig Lundgren, an engraver for the mint.Friherre Nils Ericson (1802-1870) was a Swedish mechanical engineer that became a prominent Swedish canal and railway builder.
