FATIMID: al-Mu'izz, 953-975, AR ½ dirham (1.34g), al-Mu'izziya, AH353, A-699, Nicol-, clear mint & date, some flat areas in the center; the earliest date for this mint (Nicol's first example dated 356), VF, RRR. The mint called al-Mu'izziya was the city of Taormina on the east coast of Sicily, conquered in AH351 (962 AD) and renamed "al-Mu'izziya" after the current Imam al-Mu'izz. The mint operated AH353-364, closed by the death of al-Mu'izz in AH365.
