BMC 572. CBN 1738. Cohen 28. Giard 99. RIC 240. Very rare and unusually well preserved for this difficult issue. Slightly rough and with minor spots of corrosion, otherwise, very fine.

From the collection of Dipl.-Ing. Adrian Lang, ex Numismatica Ars Classica 72, 16 May 2013, 1441.

The 'Altar of Lugdunum' depicted on this coin was dedicated in 12 BC to Roma and Augustus. It was located in the famous sanctuary of the Tres Galliae in Lugdunum and features prominently on Tiberius' smaller bronze coinage, whereas the corresponding sestertii are very rare and usually heavily worn.
