Caracalla, with Septimius Severus, 198-217. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.78 g, 12 h), Rome, 201. ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to right, seen from behind. Rev. AETERNIT IMPERI Laureate and draped bust of Septimius Severus, on the left, facing laureate and draped bust of Caracalla, on the right, both seen from behind. BMC -, cf. 158 (busts on reverse also cuirassed). Cohen -, cf. 2 (busts on reverse also cuirassed). RIC -, cf. 32b (busts on reverse also cuirassed). An extremely rare variety. Minor flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
