Severus Alexander, 222-235. As (Copper, 26 mm, 11.89 g, 12 h), Rome, 228. IMP CAES M AVR SEV ALEXANDER AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander to right, seen from behind. Rev. P M TR P VII COS II P P / S - C Severus Alexander, togate, standing front, head to left, sacrificing with patera in his right hand over lighted tripod and holding scroll in his left. BMC -, cf. 468 (bust not cuirassed). Cohen -, cf. 359 (bust not cuirassed). Kampmann 62.117 (this coin illustrated). RIC -, cf. 486 (bust not cuirassed). An extremely rare variety. A beautiful coin with a lovely green patina. Minor smoothing, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
