USA. With a mintage of 75,995 the Double Eagle 1890 Philadelphia is one of the lowest mintage of the Philadelphia mint.
It's considered that less than 650 pieces are surviving in mint state. Most of them in grades up to 62. It is elusive in MS63 andd very rare finer. PCGS/NGC together have certified only 9 examples in MS64 (including this one) and 3 above. this explains why this coin in such condition didn't appear on the open market for a long time.
