19th Century Copy: Sicily, Syracuse 'AR' Stater. Struck in the name of Pyrrhos, King of Epeiros, circa 278-276 BC. Head of Athena to right, wearing triple-pendant earring, pearl necklace and Corinthian helmet decorated with pegasos; owl(?) behind, A below / BAΣIΛEΩΣ [ΠYPPOY], Nike alighting to left, holding wreath and trophy; thunderbolt in lower left field.
