Qing Dynasty. Wen Zong (Xian Feng) 1000 Cash ND (March-August 1854) Certified 82 by Gong Bo Grading, Board of Works mint (Old Branch), KM-C2-10, FD-2447, Hartill-22.767, Jen-Unl., Shanghai Museum-1804. 60mm. 68.1gm. The largest denomination within the Qing monetary system, this 1000 Cash comes as an always desirable multiple within the series. More typically found in lower technical grades with evidence of environmental damage or roughness in the sand molds, this piece instead appears crisp and carefully produced, a superb clarity preserved throughout the calligraphy. For the sake of completeness, we would note some fine tooling marks in the fields, which are, however, hardly unusual for the type.
