Kwangtung. Kuang-hsü Dollar ND (1890-1908) MS62 NGC, Kwangtung mint, KM-Y203, L&M-133, Kann-26, WS-0941. Ku not connected, small rosettes, and dot in fireball variety. Struck from dies engraved in Heaton, Birmingham. A type we encounter with relative frequency witnessed in an uncommon state of preservation. Bathed in an impressive originality almost exclusively encountered in largely unhandled examples, having developed a most pleasing cabinet tone, prominent in forest green and burnt sienna accents throughout. Though exhibiting a general striking weakness that even Mint State specimens are accompanied by, the visual allure of the piece at hand propels it into an elite tier and is expected to demand the interest of quality-minded collectors.
