Republic Sun Yat-sen "Lower Five-Pointed Stars" Dollar ND (1912) MS65 PCGS, Nanking mint, KM-Y319, L&M-42, Kann-603, Chang-CH182, WS-0085, Wenchao-847 (rarity 3 stars). Variety with lower five-pointed stars on reverse. Commemorating the birth of the Republic. Standing head and shoulders above any example of the coveted "Lower Five-Pointed Stars" Dollar this cataloger has had the pleasure of handling, both conditionally and visually, with a level of preservation and semi-Prooflike features rarely encountered in these early Republic issues. Immensely attractive die polish populates the coin in its entirety, rendering the low-lying fields both watery and deeply reflective, creating mirrors to support the pleasingly frosted and modest effigy of the "Father of China." Fully metallic appearances abound this Gem Mint State survivor, tinged with a light peripheral tone and the most crisp engraved details, every feature rising in clean contrast against its surrounding elements. While two dozen of this issue have certified finer between both major grading services, few can claim to match the level of aesthetic merit witnessed here that will surely demand the attention of advanced collectors.
